UN Students Trondheim
About Us
The United Nations Student Association of Norway (UNSAN) is a national non-profit student
organization founded in 2009. Our goal is to raise awareness of and increase engagement
surrounding global issues and sustainable development among students and young people.
We strive to create a sustainable world in which there is international solidarity, peace, and
cooperation.
As firm believers in the power of collective action, the members of UNSAN lead events and
advocate for opportunities for students in Norway. Our activities and events aim to inspire
and engage the work towards a better tomorrow. For example, our local chapter in
Trondheim organized a small lecture about International Responses to War from a well
known lecturer, as well as organizing a ‘Quiz Night’ open for everyone at the city center the
first week of August. The organization also collaborates with other organizations at the board
level to organize different events which promote and align with our values.
As the only national UN youth association in Norway, UNSAN represents the country in the
international United Nations youth network. As an organization, UNSAN coordinates several
local UN Student Associations located in Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, Tromsø, Bodø and
Drammen. Read more about our local teams here.
The United Nations Student Association in Norway is a politically, religiously and
ideologically independent organization. It comprises one national board, five local teams,
and a central board. The local teams are located in Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, Tromsø, Bodø
and Drammen.
The National Board structures, organizes, and assists the local teams. Additionally, it
manages the budget and any collaborations that UNSAN may have with other organizations.
The Board also communicates with the UN Youth Association Network, a volunteer
organization that brings together UN student associations around the world, and LNU, the
“Landsråd” or “National Council” for Norway’s youth organizations.
